The book and the launch

When is the book launch?

Letters from Somewhere launches on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 2:00 PM at Palmwine Social Ikoyi, 7 Okunola Martins Close, Ikoyi, Lagos. Entry is free and there are 100 seats. Reserve yours on the Events page.

Can I pre-order the book?

Yes. Go to the Books page and choose Pre-order. The pre-order price is lower than the price after release. You can cancel a pre-order for a full refund any time before we dispatch it.

Who wrote Letters from Somewhere?

The book is by Onyinyechi Ogbuju, and it is the first release from The Paperville City.

Ordering and delivery

How do I order?

Choose a book or shop item, tell us where to send it and pick how you would like to pay. We email you a confirmation with your order reference.

How do I pay?

You choose card or bank transfer, or crypto, when you order. You do not pay on the order form. We email you secure payment instructions and process your order once payment is received. We never ask for card numbers or passwords by email or chat. Only pay using details sent from hello@thepapervillecity.com.

How long does delivery take and what does it cost?

Delivery fees and times depend on where you are. We confirm both in your order email before you pay. Times are estimates, because couriers can be delayed.

What if my book arrives damaged?

Email us within 7 days of delivery with your order reference and a photo. We will replace it or refund you. For change of mind, we cannot accept returns once an order has been dispatched. See the Terms of sale for the full details.

Letters

What are Paperville letters?

You can ask us to send a letter to someone you choose, by email or in the post. You write it, and a member of our team reads it before it goes out. You can also set up a plan of letters that go out daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, gift letters to someone, or write a letter to your future self. Sign in to your account and open the Letters tab.

Do I get a free letter with the book?

Yes. Buying a copy from us gives you one free letter for each copy once your payment is confirmed. Copies bought elsewhere may include a code to claim the same. Each code works once.

Can a letter be refused or cancelled?

We may decline a letter that is threatening, harassing, hateful, deceptive or unlawful. If we do, a free letter is returned to you and any payment is refunded. You can cancel a letter before we have begun working on it.

A letter was sent to me and I do not want more. What can I do?

Go to thepapervillecity.com/stop and we will stop writing to you.

Writers and manuscripts

How do I submit my manuscript?

Create a free account as an author and use the submission form. You keep the copyright in everything you send. We read it and reply by email, but we cannot promise a set time or that we will publish it.

Does it cost anything to submit my manuscript?

Submitting a manuscript through the website is free. If we later work together, any publishing agreement is a separate written contract.

What if I want to work with you in another way?

We would love to hear it. Use the Collaborate page to pitch a guest piece, a featured-writer profile, an anthology or a reading.

Community and your account

What is the book club?

It is where Paperville began, in November 2021. Join with a free account to hear about readings, events and new books. See what we are reading on the reading shelf and join the discussion.

Can I review a book or comment on an article?

Yes. Sign in with a free account to rate a book, comment on journal articles and discuss the books on our shelf. Please be kind. We may hide anything abusive or unlawful.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

On the log in page choose the forgotten password option, and we will email you a link.
